Cleaning metal surfaces in your home can restore their shine and prevent corrosion. For stainless steel, use a mixture of warm water and mild detergent, wiping in the direction of the grain with a soft cloth. For copper, create a paste with equal parts salt, flour, and white vinegar, apply, then rinse and dry thoroughly. Aluminum can be cleaned with a mixture of water and cream of tartar, while brass can be polished with a paste of lemon juice and baking soda. To clean silver, line a pan with aluminum foil, add boiling water and baking soda, then soak the silver until tarnish disappears. For gold, use warm water and a mild detergent, then gently dry with a soft cloth. Regular cleaning and proper maintenance will keep your metal surfaces looking their best.
