New year, new you, new … house? While most of us can't afford a major renovation, it doesn't mean your home can't reflect your personality. It's easy to watch home renovation or DIY shows and marvel at the bold choices people make, critiquing the paint colour or tiles and what you would or wouldn't do if it was your place. But stamping your personality on your home doesn't need to involve big changes. We asked interior designers Yasmine Ghoniem and Brendan Wong their tips for people keen to try something different. Firstly, though, both agreed on one guiding principle — don't let what might be good for resale guide you. Instead, renovate to your taste. "Because [if you do need to sell] undoubtedly, somebody will always come along who really enjoyed the bravery, the bespokeness and the uniqueness of what you've tried to achieve," Ghoniem says.
